Rev. Gordon is the son of late Rev. Sam H. Gordon and Carrie Gordon Perdue. He spent his early years living between Gordonville, Alabama and Arlington, Virginia. He is a graduate of Wakefield High School, Arlington, Virginia. After service in the United States Navy and work with Merchant Marine, in the early 90s, he moved to Orlando, Florida.
There he worked for Disney and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality Management from ITT Technical Institute in Maitland, Florida. For many years, he worked with Federation of Congregations United to Serve in Orlando, Florida as an Organizer and later moved to Alabama and became the Director of the Birmingham Area Interfaith Sponsoring Committee, Birmingham Alabama. Presently, he works for the Alabama Department of Corrections in the position of Chaplain and ADA Coordinator at Kilby Correctional Facility.
Rev. Gordon obtained the office of Deacon in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in 2009 at the Southeast Alabama Annual Conference held at Saint Paul CME Church in Gordonville, Alabama under the leadership of Bishop Lawrence Lewis Reddick III. He obtained the office of Elder and the status of Full Connection in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in 2011 at the Southeast Alabama Annual Conference held at The Hotel Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama under the leadership of Bishop Teresa E. Snorton.
He has pastored Macedonia CME Church, Ansley, AL (2009-2011), Bethlehem CME Church, Prattville , AL (2011-2019), and is the current Pastor of Hall Memorial CME Church, Montgomery, AL (2019-Present).
He is the husband to Mae B. Washington-Gordon, the father of Fiona, Sam IV, and Caleb (Valerin), and the grandfather to Tristan and Makenzie.

Reverend Sam H. Gordon, III is a native of Gordonville, Alabama and has been pastoring in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church since 2009. Prior to pastoring, he served the ministry in various capacities since 1995 and has a passion for teaching people how to apply the word of God in their everyday lives. For almost two decades, he has served as a member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. During that time, he has served at the Connectional Level representing the Fifth Episcopal District on the Commission on Social Justice & Human Concerns, the Southeast Alabama Region as President of the Ministry to Men, and is currently serving the Southeast Alabama Region as Social Concerns & Human Justice Director.
